225 years since the storming of the Bastille – the country's national holiday

Description: The French national holiday unites all French people in celebrating the Republic. The design is in a modern graphic style and shows a profile of Marianne – the symbol of the French Republic – wearing a Phrygian cap. To the right, above the letters RF, a cockade with the national flag is sketched. In the center of the coin the year of issue is inscribed. On the left side a stanza from the work of the French poet Paul Éluard "Liberté" ("Freedom") is depicted – an allusion to the motto of the French Republic. The mint mark is depicted immediately next to the excerpt from the work. On the outer ring of the coin the 12 stars of the European Union are depicted.
