Portugal 2 Euro 2023 World Youth Day UNC

The World Youth Day (WYD) took place in Lisbon in August 2023. WYD is a gathering of young people from all over the world who want to participate in a festive meeting with the Pope, as well as hundreds of thousands of other young people who share the universal principles of peace, unity, and brotherhood worldwide. The image represents the pilgrim cross, a set of human-like figures of different sizes and textures, depicted as on a globe. At the bottom, two hands embrace all of this in a gesture of welcome, expressing the inclusiveness and universality inherent in this gathering. Along the upper edge there are two inscriptions: "JORNADA MUNDIAL DA JUVENTUDE" (in Portuguese - WORLD YOUTH DAY) and "LISBOA 2023". Along the lower edge are depicted the coat of arms of Portugal, the inscription "PORTUGAL", the mint mark "CASA DA MOEDA" (the name of the Portuguese mint), and the name of the designer "JOÃO DUARTE". On the outer ring of the coin, the 12 stars of the European Union are depicted.
